Working families and retirees across the country are facing a cost-of-living crisis and a looming health care crisis.
Rather than lower health care costs and continue funding essential public services, the administration and their yes-men and women in Congress have shut down the government. Their actions mean:
- 42 million people are at risk of going hungry because they refuse to fund food support;
- 22 million people will see their premiums double;
- Nearly five million people will lose their health insurance;
- And public service workers, from the federal government to states and towns, will see furloughs and miss paychecks.
It's clear that anti-worker politicians are willing to sacrifice our jobs, our safety, and even our families’ security if it means protecting tax breaks for greedy billionaires and corporations.
