For decades, the Government Pension Offset (GPO) and the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) have cut Social Security benefits for millions of public service retirees and spouses. But Congress recently introduced the Social Security Fairness Act, which would repeal GPO and WEP and ensure that all public service retirees receive full Social Security benefits.
